Popeye was right all along!

Getting a gorgeous, glowing complexion doesn’t just mean slathering on sunblock or buying the latest antioxidant serum (though that helps, too).

It also means paying attention to your diet.  By adding nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables into your diet, you nourish your skin from the inside out.  Older cells are constantly being replaced by newer ones and a steady supply of nutrients is essential for this to happen.

Spinach is just a powerhouse food!  It is loaded with antioxidants that protect our skin from the daily abuse we put it through.  It also has carotenes, amino acids, iron, iodine, potassium and magnesium, Vitamins A, C, K, E and B complex.

thumbTIP!   Did you know Spinach is one of the Top 10 foods in Iron?  Iron is used to transport oxygen to all parts of the body.

I know there are many of you out there who still haven’t jumped on the spinach smoothie ban wagon, but I PROMISE you, if you add fruit or yogurt it helps balance that ‘spinachy’ taste many of you are worrying about.

Starting with spinach is a good launching spot because as it has the least flavor then you can add more flavorful tastes like kale or collard greens.  Did I push too far?  Ok… sorry, let’s just stick with spinach for now.

When adding the yogurt to this recipe, try and find yogurt that has live active cultures.  They provide the gut with beneficial bacteria, which helps digestion (the better your digestive tract runs, the better your skin will look).
